Overall, this is a pretty decent offer if you have a brokerage account with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney. American Express Membership Rewards points are more value than the proprietary MSSB rewards, so I'd look into that transfer option as well.
If you aren't a Morgan Stanley Smith Barney client, you can get a 50,000 point sign-up bonus from any existing Amex Platinum cardholder by having them go to this referral page (expired). If you need a referral, feel free to email me at info @ thepointsguy.com with Amex Platinum in the subject line. You can also get the Mercedes-Benz Amex Platinum with a 50,000-point sign-up bonus after $3,000 spent within the first 3 months and $475 annual fee.
